Mediterranean Climate Change Initiative
Introduction
The Mediterranean Climate Change Initiative (henceforth MCCI) is a regional collaboration instigated by the Greek Government in recognition of the serious threat climate change poses to the Mediterranean’s stability and prosperity. It is an autonomous political initiative as well as a projects-based initiative to be eligible for the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM) branding.
The MCCI aims to add value and enhance the region’s existing responses to the impacts of climate change. It also aims to lead by example the transition to a low carbon development model in recognition of the singular opportunity this model could afford to jointly address financial, energy and climate crises. The MCCI Vision Note provides further details of its vision, rational and objectives.
